At The Basin, the thing we are most proud of is our amazing team culture. Every one of the people below play an active part in making The Basin the unique business it is.
Driving the crazy bus that is the basin are business partners Stephen Arrizza and Mandy Mattiske. With over 60 years experience between them , both as salon owners and recognised mentors in the industry, they still manage a busy clientele.
What keeps them motivated? We were lucky enough to discover our “why”early on, that is, to empower and motivate young people coming in to this fantastic industry, to be the best they can be, helping them realize opportunities both professionally and personally.
Meet The Team
Steve
Style Director
| Steve has been in the hairdressing industry for over 35 years now! Steve loves cutting more than anything and seeing dramatic transformations in the salon. Steve is grateful for the opportunity he gets to be surrounded by many young people who help keep him motivated and excited about the industry. Steve is a keen cyclist and values his time with his wife and two daughters outside of work. |
Mandy
Style Director
| Mandy has been hairdressing for 37 years! Mandy thrives off of the connection she gets with people in the industry as well as doing great hair! Coming to work and having a laugh is one of Mandy’s favourite things as well as the variation of trends and styles in hairdressing. Outside of work Mandy loves keeping fit with her Border Collie Sunny, riding her bike, hiking mountains and traveling with her backpack and husband Lee. |
Chloe
Style Director
| Chloe began her hairdressing journey 17 years ago! Chloe loves creating beautiful and diverse colours in the salon! Chloe loves the interaction her work brings her, with her relationships with her clients and other staff members! Chloe has a passion for food, wine and family and friends alongside her passion for hair! |
Alice
Style Director
| Alice has been with us at The Basin since she began hairdressing career almost 10 years ago! Alice loves that she gets to make people feel beautiful and developing new relationships with her clients. Alice specialises in foiling and bright blondes but most importantly really listens to her clients wishes. Outside of work Alice loves spending her days at the beach with her dog. |
Zana
Style Director
| Zana began her hairdressing career at The Basin 16 years ago! Zana loves doing natural colours and foils and any style of cuts! Zana finds it extremely satisfying being able to come to work and create styles on people that leave them feeling happy and confident. Outside of work Zana spends most of her time with her little family that is soon expanding! Cooking and fitness are also some of Zana’s hobbies! |
Bec
Style Director
| Bec has been in the hairdressing industry for over 35 years! Bec loves the forever changing industry and being able to boost her clients confidence and is grateful for the ability to care for her clients in a calming environment. Bec is all about making a positive difference. Outside of work Bec loves making memories with her family and friends, practicing mindfulness and watching the sunset with a glass of champagne! |
Sam - Maternity Leave
Principal Stylist
| Sam has been at The Basin for 11 years now! Sam is our short hair guru! Sam loves creating funky bright colours and loves her men’s barber fades, whilst building long lasting relationships with her clients. Outside of work Sam is a busy woman! Sam also works part time as an Ambulance paramedic. Sam recently has begun her little family and has a passion for hockey and travelling. |
Ebony
Principal Stylist
| Ebony began her apprenticeship at The Basin back in 2017. Ebony is now on the floor letting her creativity run wild. She is bubbly, funny and always prepared to tackle anything, making her very popular with her clients. Ebony loves colouring in all aspects as well as being able to meet new people every day! Outside of work Ebony loves spending quality time with her family and friends! |
Han
Principal Stylist
| Hannah began at The Basin as a school based apprentice and has worked hard and enjoyed learning her skills. Han is growing into a very busy full-time stylist loving creative colours, short textured cutting and blowdrying and styling ! Hannah loves that we are always learning and pushing her capabilities every day! Hannah loves being social and loves building relationships with clients and other staff. Outside of work Hannah dances and coaches whilst also fitting in surfing, camping and hanging out with friends! |
Holly
Stylist
| Completing her apprenticeship at The Basin, Holly has become a sought after stylist. Holly loves cutting and modern, fun colours, and all other aspects of the industry. She really enjoys making personal connections with all the clients and starting on a hair journey with them. Holly enjoys coming to work and having a laugh with her clients and work mates. When not at work, she loves the beach and spending time with her Dachunds or out, travelling around the country. |
Nakita
Stylist
| Nakita started her hairdressing journey as a bright eyed apprentice, straight out of school. Nakita loves to continually learn, adapt and perfect old skills and new. Nakita is fast establishing herself as a popular stylists, with a creative yet technical style. Nakita loves the social and supportive environment of the basin and connecting with her clients. Outside of work, Nakita loves spending time with her family and friends. |
Jet
Stylist
| Jet started as a school based apprentice and then moved on to a full time apprenticeship. Jet loves learning and being creative. “I loved learning so much through my apprenticeship and i look forward to continually learning and excelling as a stylist, i am grateful for the lovely people i get to meet and see them leave, feeling confident and happy, i am excited for my future at the basin. In my spare time i love playing rugby and love spending time with my family and friends. I am excited to be part of such a creative and rewarding industry. |
Charlotte
Apprentice

As the eldest of 5 children, coming into a big staffing environment like the Basin has been quite comfortable for Charlotte. Excited by what the industry has to offer, Charlotte is flying head with her learning. |
Caitlin
Apprentice
| Having competed a Certificate II in salon assistance, Caitlin is excited to start her career in the hair industry. She is eager to learn and practise more colouring and styling. Caitlin thrives in a busy environment and loves being constantly on the go. She looks forward to the journey ahead working at the basin haircutters. In her free time, Caitlin enjoys expressing herself creatively through makeup. As well as going out with friends and family on the weekend. |
Ruby
Apprentice
| After just finishing Year 12 last year, I’m very excited to get hands on in learning all things hairdressing. I have always been fascinated by hair dressing from a young age and I’m most looking forward to learning how to foil and colour hair. Outside of work I spend my time playing and watching footy and spending time with my family and friends. I’m really looking forward to being a part of The Basin and creating new relationships with clients. |

Salon Coordinator
| I have previously worked as a Beauty Therapist before living abroad for a year in London! Now that I’ve returned, I’m looking forward to working with The Basin team as a Salon Coordinator and meeting new people every day. Outside of work, I love spending time with family and friends and my walks at the beach! |
Katie
Salon Coordinator
| After finishing year 12, Katie is delighted to be working full time. Katie would love to travel and plans to complete a business degree and get into the commercial real estate field. Katie loves spending time with family and friends, trying new foods travelling and watching footy. She enjoys playing team sports such as netball socially. I’m grateful to have been welcomed into such a positive and fun work place, I look forward to developing my admin and customer service skills here at the Basin! |
