Meet The Team

At The Basin, the thing we are most proud of is our amazing team culture. Every one of the people below play an active part in making The Basin the unique business it is.

Driving the crazy bus that is the basin are business partners Stephen Arrizza and Mandy Mattiske. With over 60 years experience between them , both as salon owners and recognised mentors in the industry, they still manage a busy clientele.

What keeps them motivated? We were lucky enough to discover our “why”early on, that is, to empower and motivate young people coming in to this fantastic industry, to be the best they can be, helping them realize opportunities both professionally and personally.

IN SALON: 40 years in the industry and still loving it. specialty is definitely the art of the cut, creating shape and style, especially short, medium length and curly hair. Adding colour to enhance the style.

OUT OF SALON: Family time with his wife and two girls, holidaying and keeping fit through cycling and the odd triathlon.

IN SALON: Loving this incredibly diverse industry for 42 years. Mandy loves people and their stories, running a business and leading a great team. Favourite areas of hair is cutting, colouring and up styling and wedding hair

OUT OF SALON: You will find Mandy climbing a hill on her road bike or getting down and dirty in the outback on her gravel bike. Another passion and love is travelling to as many places as possible and being Aunty to 6 beautiful Nieces and nephews and mum to her fur baby.

IN SALON: I love bright blondes, lived in blondes, and low maintenance colour that grows out seamlessly. Creating cuts and colours that is personalised to each individual person. Solid bobs are a personal favourite of mine.

OUT OF SALON: Traveling and seeing family overseas, spending weekends at home with my cat Bebe and my partner Brad. Keeping fit with running, Pilates and netball.

IN SALON: With over 20 years of experience, I would say I specialises in natural, personalised colour and precision cuts for women and men. I love creating beautiful, low-maintenance hair that suits each client’s lifestyle and leaves them feeling confident.

OUT OF SALON: Outside the salon, I am a proud mum of two who loves spending time with my family, cooking, baking, reading, and fitting in a run whenever I can.

IN SALON: 39 years in the industry and love that its forever changing. All about beautiful hair, texture with razor, shags and pixie cuts. Also lived in colour techniques and blending grey to enhance your hair. You will feel heard,relaxed and leave feeling happy and looking better.

OUT OF SALON: Spending quality time with my husband, four girls and family and friends. Sharing a laugh and delicious food with those i love. I also enjoy pilates a weekend bike ride and mindfulness.

IN SALON: I’ve been in the industry and working at the basin for 6 years all together. I love doing foil work including bright blondes, blended balayage and fun vivid colours! I love cutting and styling medium to long hair adding soft or heavy layers to add in dimension and shaping to my clients features.

OUT OF SALON: I love traveling and exploring all of natures natural beauty, I love spending time at the beach and most of all I love spending time with my dogs

IN SALON: 5 years in the industry. Specialising in alternative colours and cuts, especially vivids and layers. I love being able to customise and express ourselves through our hair.

OUT OF SALON: My ideal weekend is just lounging around the house. Playing board games and watching movies. While vision boarding my future adventures abroad.

After just finishing Year 12 last year, I’m very excited to get hands on in learning all things hairdressing. I have always been fascinated by hair dressing from a young age and I’m most looking forward to learning how to foil and colour hair. Outside of work I spend my time playing and watching footy and spending time with my family and friends. I’m really looking forward to being a part of The Basin and creating new relationships with clients.

With a family background in hair, I’m keen to start my journey in hairdressing with The Basin! I’ve always grown up around a salon and love a good conversation. I love to see a good hair transformation and can’t wait to start cutting, styling and colouring. Outside of work I love spending time with family friends and being at the beach.

Excited to start her apprenticeship, Mia is following in the footsteps of her Mum and Grandma and learning all the skills to be the best she can be.
In her spare time Mia loves spending time with her family and friends, playing netball, staying active and going to the gym.

Salon Coordinator

Bernard is thrilled to be joining the friendly team at The Basin. He loves active environments and as a Salon Coordinator gets to see clients right before and after their transformations. Outside the salon, Bernard balances performing/teaching music and dance, travelling and being an avid movie watcher. He is also studying Journalism at university, where he enjoys hearing stories that connect with people.

Rossi has a love for customer service and meeting people, and is excited to be welcoming clients into The Basin as one of the Salon Coordinators. Rossi has always loved experimenting with styling her hair, and uses it as a form of self-expression in her day-to-day life. In her spare time, Rossi loved to travel, play netball, see live music, spend time with family and friends, and be by the beach. Rossi is excited to begin her journey within The Basin family!
